Rumors about Palin's baby have started ...and actually they started before she was the VP nominee, so this is not coming from the Obama camp. People have been claiming that the baby's mother is really Palin's 17 year old, Bristol, who was out of school for 4-5 months with "mono". Classmates say they saw her pregnant. If you look at the timeline from when Palin's water broke to when she gave birth, her water would have broken before giving a speech in Texas. After the speech, she flew to Seattle and then Alaska, while in labor, although the flight attendants didn't notice any signs of distress. Even if it is her baby and not her daughter's, flying 7-8 months into pregnancy is incredibly dangerous; some airlines refuse to fly passengers who are that pregnant. Someone who thinks it is wrong to harm unborn children certainly took a lot of unnecessary risks just to give a speech. She could have given it by satellite. Bristol is pregnant... they just confirmed it on the news this morning that the 17 year old is 4-5 months pregnant and is planning on marrying her boyfriend. They picked a good day to announce this, there is no way with Hurricane Gustav that this will be headline news.

Yep, and it's not impossible either. I have a couple of aunts who are 10 months apart. She could have had the kid on April 18ths and got pregnant again at the beginning or middle of May. They would still put her around that mark.

Or they conveniently announced 4-5 months to make people doubt that Trig could be hers. I wonder how the conservatives feel about Palin having a pregnant teenage daughter? I'm sure she'll get points since the daughter will keep the baby and get married, but it still looks bad. When will people realize that pregnant teenagers are what you get when you teach abstinence only?

Is our resident Republican feeling left out? Don't forget your party has been spreading the rumor that Obama is a Muslim for ages. Of course he isn't (and who cares if he is), but your friends still like to keep that rumor alive. The rumor about Palin started before she was named VP (as I said above). Had McCain taken the time to meet with her and had her properly vetted, he could have avoided picking a running mate who's credibility can be questioned.

Yeah, I heard that. I don't know why he thinks its a non-issue when he knows (or should know) that the right-wingers he needs (i.e., the conservatives who don't think McCain is conservative enough) will think an unwed pregnant teenage daughter is an issue.

I think he's going to stick thisout. The NY Times and the Boston Globe have both floated the idea that McMain won't be campaigning against Obama as much as he'll be campaigning aganst Congress - a tactic that could work, regardless of his VP pick.
